How this balloon payment car loan calculator works
The calculator estimates the amount financed from the car price, down payment, trade-in value, fees and taxes. It then uses the APR, loan term and final balloon amount to estimate the regular monthly payment.
Balloon payment vs standard car loan
A balloon loan leaves a final amount due at the end of the term. A standard fully amortising loan repays the amount financed through the monthly payments. The comparison shows both monthly payment and total-interest estimates so the final payment is not hidden.
Final payment and refinance assumptions
The final payment is shown as an obligation in this estimate. The calculator does not assume a future trade-in, resale value or refinance will be available or enough to cover it.
What this calculator does not include
This calculator does not recommend balloon financing. It does not model lender approval, future vehicle value, refinancing availability, insurance, tax treatment, contract-specific fees or dealer terms.

FAQs
What is a balloon payment on a car loan?
It is a final amount due at the end of the loan term after the regular monthly payments.
Why is the monthly payment lower with a balloon?
Part of the principal is left until the end, so less is repaid during the monthly payment period.
Does this calculator include trade-in value at the end?
No. It shows the final payment obligation but does not predict future vehicle value.
Can I compare with a normal loan?
Yes. The calculator can show a standard fully amortising loan comparison using the same amount financed, rate and term.
Is the balloon payment included in total paid?
Yes. The total paid estimate includes the final balloon amount.
What if the balloon is larger than the amount financed?
The calculator shows a warning that the inputs may not match a typical loan quote.
Does this show whether I can refinance the balloon?
No. Refinancing availability and future trade-in value are outside this calculator.
Is this finance advice?
No. It is a general estimate based on the values entered, not financial, tax, legal, credit, lending or dealer advice.
