How this business days calculator works

The calculator checks each calendar date in the selected range and counts it only when it is not a selected weekend day and not entered as a custom excluded date.

Weekend days and custom excluded dates

Saturday and Sunday are selected by default, but you can choose any weekend pattern. Custom excluded dates are entered manually, one date per line, and duplicates are ignored.

Inclusive vs exclusive date ranges

By default, the start date is checked and the end date is not. Turn on include end date when the final date should also count if it is a business day.

What this tool does not include

This tool does not include a public holiday database, calculate legal filing deadlines, provide payroll advice, sync calendars or infer holidays from your location.

FAQs

What counts as a business day?

A business day is any date not marked as a weekend day and not entered as a custom excluded date.

Does this include holidays automatically?

No. This version lets you enter custom holidays or excluded dates manually.

Can I change the weekend days?

Yes. The default is Saturday and Sunday, but you can choose different weekend days.

Does the calculator include the end date?

Only when the include end date option is turned on.

What if a holiday falls on a weekend?

It is shown as an excluded date but is not subtracted twice from the business-day count.

Can this calculate legal or contract deadlines?

No. It is a general counting tool and not legal advice.

Does daylight saving affect business-day counts?

It should not because the tool compares calendar dates rather than elapsed hours.
