Optimize PDF
Choose one PDF and create a browser-generated optimized copy. Some PDFs may not get much smaller, especially if they are already optimised.
Browser-based file processing
Files are processed in your browser. NoNoiseTools does not need to upload this PDF to a server for this tool.
Large PDFs may use a lot of browser memory.
Avoid uploading highly sensitive files to any online tool unless you understand how it works.
How this PDF compression tool works
Choose one PDF and press Optimize PDF. The tool loads the PDF in your browser, re-saves it with the browser-side PDF library object-stream writer, creates a local PDF download and compares the original size with the output size.
Some PDFs may not get much smaller, especially if they are already optimized. The page shows Smaller, About the same or Larger based on the measured bytes.
Privacy notes
The selected PDF is processed in this browser tab. NoNoiseTools does not need a server upload for this tool, and the optimized PDF download is created locally.
Browser-side processing avoids a required upload, but highly sensitive documents still need caution on any website, shared device or managed browser.
Large files may use browser memory and may be limited by canvas or file-processing support.
The PDF is still loaded into the browser tab while you use the tool. Clearing the file or closing the tab removes the working copy from this page.
What this tool does not include
This version does not recompress images, downsample scanned pages, OCR text, unlock protected PDFs, repair corrupt PDFs, remove passwords, edit content, change page order, remove forms, sign documents or create an exact target file size.
Key terms and assumptionsBrowser processing notes, limited optimization, file limits, protected PDF handling and local downloads.
- Browser processing
- The PDF is read and the optimized PDF is generated in this browser tab with a client-side PDF library. NoNoiseTools does not need a server upload for this tool.
- Limited optimization
- This version re-saves the PDF with object streams. It is not a full compression engine, so some PDFs stay similar in size or get larger.
- File limits
- This version uses the shared PDF file limit of 25 MB for browser memory safety.
- No image recompression
- Embedded images are not extracted, downsampled or recompressed by this tool.
- Protected PDFs
- Password-protected or encrypted PDFs are not unlocked or bypassed.
- Measured result
- The tool compares the original file size with the generated output and labels the result as Smaller, About the same or Larger.
- No exact target size
- The output size depends on the PDF structure, embedded content, fonts and browser-side library behavior.
- Browser memory
- Large, image-heavy or malformed PDFs may be slow or fail because input bytes, parsed document data and output bytes are held in browser memory.

FAQs
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No required upload. The PDF is read and re-saved in this browser tab, and the optimized download is created locally.
Will this always make my PDF smaller?
No. Some PDFs are already optimized or cannot be reduced much by this browser-side rewrite approach.
Why did the compressed PDF get larger?
Re-saving a PDF can sometimes add structure or fail to shrink embedded content. The tool shows this clearly and keeps the download label honest.
Can this unlock or repair a PDF?
No. Protected, encrypted or corrupt PDFs are rejected rather than bypassed or repaired.
Does this change the PDF content?
This tool does not edit text, forms, signatures or page order. It re-saves the PDF and compares the measured file sizes.
Can this OCR scanned pages?
No. OCR is outside this tool's current scope.
Can I choose an exact target size?
No. The output size depends on the PDF structure, embedded images, fonts and browser-side library behavior.
Is this safe for sensitive documents?
Browser-side processing avoids a required upload, but highly sensitive documents still need caution on any website, shared device or managed browser.
