How this word finder works

The tool filters a general English word list by the fields you enter: starts with, ends with, contains, word length and optional available letters. You can use one filter or combine several.

Tips for using the tool

Start with the narrowest clue you have. Word length and starts-with filters usually reduce results quickly, while available letters are useful when you need words that can be made from a specific set.

What this tool does not include

This word finder does not solve clues semantically, check live games or claim official dictionary status. Broad searches are capped in the interface to keep the page responsive.

Key terms and assumptionsShort notes about filter matching, available letters and result limits.
Filter matching
Starts-with and ends-with are text-position filters. Contains checks that the requested letters appear in the word.
Available letters
When available letters are entered, each matching word must be buildable from those letters.
Result cap
The interface shows the first 500 matches for broad searches.
General word list
The current word list is compact and general-purpose.

FAQs

What can I search for?

You can filter by letters at the start, letters at the end, letters contained in the word, word length and available letters.

Do I need to fill every filter?

No. Use only the filters that match your word question.

Can contains handle repeated letters?

Yes. Repeated letters are checked as repeated letters, so two entered letters require two matches.

Can I use wildcards?

The available-letters filter supports question marks as wildcards.

Why are results limited?

Large result sets are capped in the interface. Add filters for a shorter, more useful list.

Is this an official word-game checker?

No. It uses a general English word list and does not claim official game dictionary support.
